Sanctions Compliance and Restricted Regions

To comply with EU and US sanctions, Trackunit restricts the use of its services in certain countries and regions. This article outlines how these restrictions work and what they mean for customers.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Trackunit is committed to operating a responsible, secure, and compliant global equipment ecosystem. As part of this commitment, we take active measures to ensure that Trackunit devices and services are not used in countries, regions, or territories subject to international sanctions.

Compliance with EU and US sanctions

European Union (EU) and United States (US) sanctions restrict the provision of certain products, services, technologies, and support to designated countries, regions, entities, or individuals.

To meet these legal obligations, Trackunit implements technical and operational controls designed to prevent Trackunit-enabled equipment from being operated, connected, or supported from sanctioned areas.

Export Control Classification

Trackunit assesses its products under applicable export control regulations, including Regulation (EU) 2021/821 (EU Dual-Use Regulation) and relevant U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), where applicable.

Each Trackunit IoT devices is evaluated against Annex I of the EU Dual-Use Regulation to determine whether it is classified as a controlled dual-use item.

For currently marketed TU-series telematics units:

  • The products have been technically assessed against Categories 0–9 of Annex I.

  • The products do not meet the control parameters of any listed dual-use entry.

  • Accordingly, they are not classified as dual-use items under EU export control legislation.

Formal Export Control Classification Statements may be downloaded below:

Export control status may be subject to reassessment in the event of regulatory updates or product modifications.
